5 Minute Strawberry Shortcake

I have named this recipe 5 minute strawberry shortcake because it literally will only take you 5 minutes (at the most) to create this dessert.  All the ingredients are pre-made so really it is just a matter of putting it all together.  It is the perfect dessert to serve at large gathering, parties, etc.

5 Minute Strawberry Shortcake

1 store bought pound cake loaf

1 container of store bought strawberry glaze or strawberry preserves

1 container of frozen dessert topping (I prefer CocoWhip but CoolWhip is fine)

1 packet of vanilla or cream cheese flavored instant pudding mix

Sliced fresh strawberries (optional)

In a stand up mixer or large bowl with handheld mixer, add the frozen dessert topping and mix on medium speed for about 20 seconds.  Add 2 tablespoons of the pudding mix powder to the dessert topping and mix for another 20 seconds.

Using a knife, carefully cut the pound cake into even slices (about 1/2″ thick).  Using a cookie cutter or top of a drinking glass, cut circle out of the pound cake slices and place into dessert bowls, on dessert plates or inside dessert shot glasses.  Add a scoopful (about a tablespoon) of strawberry glaze or preserve to the top of the pound cake.  Place another circle of pound cake on top of the glaze or preserve.  Top with the dessert topping and sliced strawberries.  Store covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
